Tennis: Ten years on, Federer faces historic Wimbledon bid

Ten years after Roger Federer made his Grand Slam breakthrough at Wimbledon, the 17-time major winner returns to the All England Club next week as defending champion, but with the clock ticking. The Swiss put his growing army of critics firmly in their place in 2012 when, after back-to-back quarter-final defeats, he captured his seventh Wimbledon title, equalling the record of Pete Sampras.

Tennis-U.S. tennis mourns as San Jose Open bids farewell

By Matt Cronin SAN JOSE, California, Feb 17 (Reuters) - The U.S. tennis community mourned the loss of another ATP tournament on Sunday when the San Jose Open packed up and headed to Brazil after 125 years in California. The event was first played in 1889 and has included champions such as Fred Perry, Rod Laver, Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Andy Murray and Andy Roddick before Canada's Milos Raonic completed a hat-trick of wins on Sunday.
