RugbyU: Lobbe extends Toulon contract

Argentine captain Juan Fernandez Lobbe has signed a new three year deal with Toulon, the European Cup holders announced on Monday. "The side is going in the right direction and I still want to be part of this adventure," the 32-year-old flanker said. Lobbe, capped 56 times for his country, joined Toulon from English Premiership side Sale in 2009. Rugby Union: Fernandez-Lobbe out for three months

Toulon back rower Juan Martin Fernandez-Lobbe will be out of action for up to three months after fracturing his right elbow Saturday in the Top-14 match against Toulouse, the club announced on Monday The 31-year-old Argentinian came on as a second half substitute, but was forced off the field 15 minutes later after sustaining the injury as Toulon lost 12-13. Fernandez-Lobbe will undergo an operation to fix the damage done to his elbow and he will miss the November Test matches against England, Wales, Italy and Ireland. sva/ig/ak

RugbyU: Argentina without Albacete, Senatore for NZ, Australia

Argentina coach Santiago Phelan will be without the injured Patricio Albacete and suspended Leonardo Senatore for Rugby Championship matches in Australia and New Zealand. Lock Albacete, who had already missed the Pumas' second match of the tournament against South Africa last weekend, which the Springboks won 22-17, is suffering from a torn hamstring. Senatore will miss out on the two matches, against New Zealand on September 7 and Australia a week later, after picking up a nine-week ban for biting.

RugbyU: Toulon's Fernandez-Lobbe out for six weeks

Toulon's Argentina captain Juan Martin Fernandez-Lobbe will be out for around six weeks with a ruptured spleen, the French Top 14 leaders Toulon announced on Tuesday. The back rower suffered the problem in Toulon's 51-6 victory over Montpellier at the weekend. The 31-year-old came off in the 44th minute after a tackle left him with minor internal haemorrhaging. He was taken to hospital where he is still undergoing treatment, but he does not require surgery.
