Shown at the Berlin film festival, it features Hirut, a bright, studious girl who dreams of going to university but whose life becomes a nightmare when she is abducted, as is the custom in rural Ethiopia, by a young man to be his bride.

Angeline Jolie gets honorary Oscar for humanitarian work

A-list movie star Angelina Jolie was awarded an honorary Oscar for her humanitarian work late Saturday at the Governors Awards ceremony in Hollywood. Jolie calls on UN Security Council to act on war rapes

Angelina Jolie: I had double mastectomy

Angelina Jolie revealed Tuesday that she has undergone a preventive double mastectomy to reduce her risk of contracting breast cancer. Jolie said she was speaking out to encourage other women with a family history of cancer -- her mother died of it age 56 -- to seek out information from doctors and make informed choices about their bodies. She said she managed to keep the issue quiet and keep working. "But I am writing about it now because I hope that other women can benefit from my experience," she said.
