La Paz, Mar 2 (EFE).- Four people were killed and 60 others injured when a footbridge collapsed during the carnival in the Bolivian city of Oruro, officials said Sunday. The accident, which occurred on Saturday, is under investigation, the Oruro province prosecutor's office said. "We have decided to begin criminal proceedings against subjects to investigate this incident due to the magnitude of dead and injured," Oruro Attorney General Orlando Riveros told the official ABI news agency. Police experts will determine why the walkway collapsed, Riveros said.

They arrested at least 12 fans of title holders Corinthians of Brazil after Wednesday night's match against home side San Jose and will be interrogating them to try to identify who set off the flare that hit the boy in the eye, killing him almost instantly.

The incident, in which the boy was hit in the eye and died almost instantly according to the doctor who attended to him in hospital, occurred during a 1-1 draw between Bolivia's San Jose and Libertadores Cup holders and world club champions Corinthians on Wednesday night.
