Cricket: Zimbabwe close in on win after Taylor feat

Brendan Taylor became just the third Zimbabwean batsmen to score centuries in both innings of a Test match before his side moved to within four wickets of a resounding victory over Bangladesh in the first Test at Harare Sports Club. Set an unlikely 483 runs to win the match after Taylor had reached his landmark early on day four, Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals and went to tea on 136 for six. Kyle Jarvis did most of the damage with the ball, bowling Shahriar Nafees and having both Mahmudullah and Shakib Al Hasan caught.

A more disciplined bowling performance from Zimbabwe induced a Bangladesh batting meltdown on Friday, as the visitors lost five wickets for the addition of just 39 runs on the third morning of the first Test at Harare Sports Club. Having bowled poorly on the second evening in allowing Bangladesh to race to an overnight total of 95 for one, Zimbabwe's pacemen tightened up in the first session on Friday and the rewards followed as Bangladesh collapsed to 134 for six at lunch.

Cricket: Taylor marks Independence Day with records

Brendan Taylor recorded the highest Test score by a Zimbabwean captain and the eighth best by any Zimbabwean as Bangladesh's bowlers continued to toil on the second day of the first Test on Thursday. Although Taylor was dismissed for 171 after an eight-hour stay at the crease, Zimbabwe went to tea on 377 for eight as Bangladesh struggled to wrap up the home side's obdurate tail.

Cricket:Gabriel shines as Zimbabwe struggle

Fast bowler Shannon Gabriel took two wickets as Zimbabwe reached 92 for three at lunch on the opening day of the second and final test against the West Indies at Windsor Park here on Wednesday. Gabriel removed both openers in his first two overs and hometown hero Shane Shillingford enjoyed success almost immediately as well with the Zimbabweans faltering after a deceptively bright start.
