'Shrek' studio announces exclusive Netflix deal

DreamWorks Animation will release new original shows exclusively on Netlix, under a deal announced Monday by the video service and the studio behind blockbusters "Shrek" and "Kung Fu Panda." The multi-year deal is the largest content agreement in the history of the California-based on-demand video provider, the two companies said a joint statement. It is expected to include more than 300 hours of original programming, with shows inspired by past and future DreamWorks films. The first DreamWorks series is set to debut next year.

Teletoon Canada plans to air 'Inspector Gadget' reboot

BANFF, Alta. - Go-Go-Gadget reboot. The clueless cyborg police inspector along with his catchy theme song, niece Penny and dog Brain are being dusted off and brought back to TV by Teletoon Canada and DHX Media (TSX:DHX). The original "Inspector Gadget" was introduced to audiences from 1983-86 and used the vocal talents of Don Adams, who is best-known as secret agent Maxwell Smart on the '60s sitcom "Get Smart." The series also spawned a 1999 movie of the same name starring Matthew Broderick.

Cave-dwelling "Croods" settle at top of U.S. movie box office

The 3-D children's comedy from "Shrek" and "Madagascar" creator Dreamworks Animation added $63.3 million from international markets, the studio said on Sunday, for a global total of $108 million.

New Mickey Mouse cartoons coming to Disney Channel

March 12 (Reuters) - New Mickey Mouse cartoons will come to TV this summer when the Disney Channel premieres a series of short cartoons featuring the comic antics of the 85-year-old children's character with contemporary touches. The 19 cartoons, each a couple minutes long, are being produced with 2D animation to pay homage to the artistry of Walt Disney and his animators in the 1920s and 1930s, Walt Disney Co said in a statement on Tuesday.
