RugbyU: Brave Scots take Springboks to the wire

South Africa booked a four-nation tournament final showdown with Samoa after defeating brave Scotland 30-17 on Saturday in a fiery Nelspruit Test. The injury-weakened Scots led for much of the game at Mbombela Stadium and were in contention until the final minute when centre Jan Serfontein touched down. The Scots face Italy in Pretoria next Saturday for third place before the Springboks tackle physically formidable Samoa in the climax of the three-week event. "I am happy with the result but not the performance," said Springboks centre and skipper Jean de Villiers.

Patrick Lambie scored all the points for Coastal Sharks as they ground out a 21-12 victory over Southern Kings Saturday in a fiery, try-less Super 15 clash. The Springbok fly-half succeeded with his six penalty attempts at a near-full Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in this Indian Ocean city and his drop goal off a post gave the visitors a 12-3 half-time advantage. Kings fly-half Demetri Catrakilis also finished with a perfect goal-kicking record and his four penalties offered hope of a losing bonus point until Lambie completed the scoring in the final minute.
