Golf: Romero clings to Puerto Rico PGA lead

Argentina's Andres Romero fired his second consecutive seven-under-par 65 on Friday to grab a one-stroke lead after the second round of the $3.5 million US PGA Tour Puerto Rico Open. Romero, whose only PGA title came in 2008 at New Orleans, was on 14-under 130 after 36 holes, one shot ahead of American Scott Brown with US rivals Peter Uihlein and Steve LeBrun on 132 and Argentina's Fabian Gomez fifth on 133.

Golf-Percy, Romero share first-round lead at Puerto Rico Open

March 7 (Reuters) - Australian Cameron Percy and Argentina's Andres Romero fired matching seven-under-par 65s to share the first-round lead of the PGA Tour's Puerto Rico Open on Thursday. Percy had nine birdies and two bogeys at Trump International Golf Club while Romero mixed two bogeys with seven birdies and an eagle to set up a one-stroke lead over Monday qualifier Jon Curran and sponsor invitee and fellow American Blayne Barber.
