After years of hard negotiations and ratification procedures, the free trade agreement, dubbed the "KORUS FTA," went into effect on March 15 last year, following a similar deal with the European Union that took effect in July 2011.

According to the survey of 350 exporters to the U.S. taken by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), 61.2 percent of the respondents said the Korea-U.S. free trade agreement, dubbed KORUS FTA, has been a boon to their exports to America over the last year.
