Spanish bands look to Mexico for opportunities

Mexico City, Mar 17 (EFE).- Spanish musicians are looking to Mexico for opportunities amid the deep economic recession that has hurt music sales and dampened concert attendance in their homeland. Mexico is a dynamic market that offers Spanish musicians the chance to keep sharing their work with the world and earn a living from their art. Carlos Garcia, director of planning for the Spanish Music Producers Association, or Promusicae, plans to travel to Mexico and the United States in coming days to try to find new markets.

Vive Latino Festival debuts in Mexico City with 130 bands

Mexico City, Mar 16 (EFE).- One day late after the scheduled first day was canceled, one of the most important events in the world of Ibero-American music, the three-day Vive Latino Festival, kicked off in Mexico City with the prospect of presenting some 130 bands. Just before 2 p.m. Friday under a light rain, the Mexican group Centavrvs appeared onstage at the Foro Sol (Sun Forum) arena to officially open the 14th edition of the festival.
