Park arrives in India on 'sales diplomacy' trip

By Chang Jae-soon NEW DELHI, Jan. 15 (Yonhap) -- President Park Geun-hye arrived in India on Wednesday on a trip aimed at opening the world's second-most populous nation wider to South Korean businesses and laying the foundation for winning construction projects in a nation with a massive demand for infrastructure. The four-day state visit to New Delhi is part of a weeklong trip that will later take her to Switzerland for a state visit to the capital of Bern and then to the Swiss ski resort of Davos for an annual meeting of global business leaders and politicians.

Japan to be "partner country" at India International Trade Fair

India said Thursday that Japan will be the "partner country" at this year's India International Trade Fair to be held for two weeks from Nov. 14 in the capital New Delhi. Around 260 international participants, including 28 leading Japanese companies, are expected to take part in the fair to showcase their products.

S. Korea, Indonesia make significant progress in free trade talks: minister

SEOUL, Sept. 27 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and Indonesia have made "significant" progress in their negotiations that started last year for a bilateral free trade deal, Seoul's top economic policymaker said Friday. Both started negotiations for what is called a comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) in March 2012. CEPA is the equivalent of a free trade agreement designed to lower tariff barriers on trade.

S Korea-Indonesia trade

SEOUL, March 28 (Yonhap) -- Trade ministers of South Korea and Indonesia will hold talks on ways to improve their countries' economic ties, which include signing a bilateral free trade deal, the Seoul government said Thursday. The meeting between South Korea's Yoon Sang-jick and his Indonesian counterpart Gita Irawan Wirjawan was to be held here later Thursday, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
