Football: Late Bent winner lifts Fulham

A late goal from substitute Darren Bent helped relieve some of the pressure on beleaguered manager Martin Jol with a valuable 1-0 win over Stoke City on Saturday. Bent, who was brought to Fulham by the Dutchman after falling out of favour at Aston Villa, came on after 65 minutes in place of injured Dimitar Berbatov. And he scored what could be an important goal in keeping Jol in his job seven minutes from time as he picked up a pass from midfielder Patjim Kasami to fire past Bosnia Asmir Begovic in the Stoke goal.

Norway's Hangeland signs two-year extension at Fulham

LONDON (Reuters) - Fulham captain Brede Hangeland has signed a two-year contract extension that ties the Norway defender to Craven Cottage until at least 2015, the Premier League club said on Thursday. Hangeland, 31, has an option for a further year which could see him stay at the London club until the end of the 2015/16 season. His current deal was due to expire after this term. He joined Fulham from FC Copenhagen in January 2008 for 2.5 million pounds and has played more than 200 games for the club in all competitions.
