U.S. Sports Desk, Nov 14 (EFE).- Detroit Tigers right hander Max Scherzer and Los Angeles Dodgers southpaw Clayton Kershaw were selected as this year's Cy Young Award winners in the American League and National League, respectively.
Scherzer, 29, received 28 of 30 first-place votes after posting a record of 21-3 - making him last season's only 20-game winner - and finishing fifth in the AL with a 2.90 ERA.
"It's unbelievable. It just vindicates everything I've done," Scherzer said on a conference call after the vote by members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America.
