Pakistan wants Iran to finance gas pipeline

Pakistan has asked Iran for $2 billion in financing to build its side of a controversial gas pipeline that has drawn threats of US sanctions, Islamabad's petroleum minister said Tuesday. The Iranian side of the $7.5-billion project is almost complete, but Pakistan has run into repeated problems paying for the 780 kilometre (485 mile) section to be built on its side of the border. Pakistani petroleum minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi told AFP on Tuesday that the preparatory work was complete but they had asked Iran to provide $2 billion for the construction work.

Pakistan oil chief brought home over graft scandal

Pakistani investigators brought home the country's fugitive former oil and gas chief from the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday to face allegations in an $850 million corruption case. Tauqir Sadiq was arrested in Abu Dhabi in January on suspicion of amassing vast sums in kickbacks and commissions while head of Pakistan's oil and gas regulatory authority between 2009 and 2011. Former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf was implicated as he was water and power minister at the time of the alleged embezzlement. Sadiq fled Pakistan last year.

CNG stations to remain close for 24 hours

All CNG stations in Sindh will remain closed from 08:00am on April 13 till 08:00am on April 14. “In order to maintain sufficient line-pack in our distribution lines and for ensuring uninterrupted gas supply to all its valued domestic, commercial and industrial customers within the entire franchise area, this shutdown is unavoidable,” the spokesperson added.
