Gunmen kidnap son of former Pakistan PM

Gunmen on Thursday kidnapped the son of a former Pakistani prime minister who is also standing in the country's elections, police said. Ali Haider Gilani was seized on the outskirts of the central city of Multan. Former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and his kin are one of the most powerful families in the area. "People came on a motorbike. They also had a car with them and they opened fire and abducted Yousuf Raza Gilani's son Ali Haider in a black Honda," police officer Khurram Shakur told reporters.

Youth ready to change the country’s fate: Qureshi

Former MNA Jamshaid Ahmed Khan Dasti has been released from Multan jail on Thursday after Lahore High Court Multan Bench declared the punishment awarded to him null-and-void in fake degree case, here on Wednesday.Jamshaid Ahmed Khan Dasti was awarded three year imprisonment and Rs five thousand fine in fake degree case, by district and sessions judge Muzaffargarh.Jamshed Dasti filed petition against his conviction in Lahore High Court Multan Bench. LHC Multan Bench, comprising Justice Ebadur Rehmaan and Justice Ejaz Ahmed, nullified Dasti’s punishment.

Qureshi urges public to vote PTI for new Pakistan

Dasti freed from Multan Jail

Former MNA Jamshed Dasti was released from Central Jail Multan in compliance of a verdict of Lahore High Court Multan Bench here on Thursday. Mr Dasti was convicted in a fake degree case by a District and Sessions court in Muzaffargarh, but a division bench of LHC Multan Bench comprising Mr Justice Ijaz Ahmad and Mr Justice Ibadur Rehman Lodhi nullified the three-year imprisonment sentence and issued order for his release.

LHC admits Dasti's appeal against sentence

A Division bench of the Lahore High Court Multan, comprising Justice Ijaz Ahmad and Justice Ibadur Rehman Lodhi on Monday admitted an appeal filed by former PPP MNA Jamshed Dasti against his jail sentence in fake degree case.Dasti, who was preparing for contesting elections against former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar as an independent case, was sentenced to three years in prison by a district and session court after being convicted over possession of fake seminary degree. The LHC will take up the case on Tuesday (today).
