Measles claim 22 lives in Jhang in two months

Measles claimed one more life in Jhang district and taking death toll of four this week, and 22 in last two months.The measles is rapidly spreading in district but the health department is not paying heeds toward the issue. At least three children died in Mohalla Mustafabad due to measles in last six days, while 4-year old Hassan son of Tabassum resident of Phool Lines area died in a private hospital.As many as 22 children have died of measles in last two month in Jhang district mainly due to slackness of health department.

Kissan Board for wheat purchase from 16th

The Kissan Board Hafizabad chapter has appealed to the provincial government to ensure procurement of wheat from April 16 to save the growers from the exploitation of middlemen. During a meeting of the Kissan Board Hafizabad chapter chaired by Aman Ullah Chattha, it was disclosed that wheat harvesting had been started on war-footings and the Food Department or Passco had not yet arranged the supply of ‘bardana’ (gunny bags). The participants of the meeting demanded start of procurement drive at earliest.

Vendetta, mishaps kill four women among nine

At least nine persons including four women and an infant were killed and four others injured in separate incidents of violence, honour killing and road accidents over the past 24 hours. According to detail, in Sargodha four people including a woman were killed in various mishaps. In the first incident a car collided with a truck on Sargodha Faisalabad Road as a woman identified as Asia Bibi was killed on the spot and four others injured.In another incident, a motorcyclist namely Kashif Latif was hit by a speeding van. He sustained critical wounds and died instantly.

26 Jhang aspirants declared ineligible

Ten out of a total 91 nomination papers filed for four National Assembly seats while 16 out of 179 papers filed for seven Punjab Assembly slots here have been rejected. Sixteen people had filed papers for NA-88 Jhang 1. The papers of all aspirants of the constituency were accepted. For NA-89 Jhang 2, 37 candidates’ papers out of 32 were accepted while papers of five candidates including ex-federal minister for education Sheikh Waqas Akram were rejected.
