Spring season welcomed

Traditional bullock-cart race was held in Faqirwali at spring festival and attracted thousands of villagers. The arrival of spring was celebrated in unique and befitting manner. The villagers organised different events to rejuvenate the golden traditions of rural life. At the festival, around 30 bullock carts from across the district participated.Villagers watched the competition with zeal and zest and shouted frequently in joy. The bull of Aslam Bhola, resident of Chak 335/GB stood first in the race while bull of Mithu shah, resident of 97/6R secured second position.

Two women axed to death

Three persons, including two women, were killed in different incidents in the district. A pregnant woman was axed to death by her brother-in-law in Mauza Sultan Pur, within Saddr Police precincts. Reportedly, Najma Bibi, 24, was wedded to Mazhar one year back. She was the second wife of Mazhar, at which his brother Aslam was very grieved.Last day, when she went to Aslam’s house in Sultan Pur, he along with his two accomplices Bahir and Asif axed her to death and threw her body in the river.

Lawyers manhandle judge in Rawalpindi

A group of angry lawyers of District Courts Monday locked up Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Muhammad Aslam Gondal, also serving as Returning Officer (RO) in NA-52, in his courtroom for allegedly misbehaving with a senior lawyer during the proceeding of a case. The detained judge Muhammad Aslam Gondal, however, remained present in his retiring room for some time and later went out from the back door.
