Balikatan to make PN, USN more 'interoperable'

With two of its frigates, the BRP Gregorio Del Pilar (PF-16) and BRP Rajah Humabon (PF-11), participating in the naval phase of "Balikatan 2013" which formally started Friday, the Philippine Navy (PN) announced that the exposure to American training and techniques will make it more "interoperable" with the US Navy."PN ships and units will conduct various maritime exercises and trainings (with the US Navy) for capability enhancement and subject matter exchanges," PN spokesperson Lt. PN's most modern, vintage ships join 'Balikatan'

A mixture of the Philippine Navy (PN)'s most modern and vintage ships will be participating in this year "Balikatan" Exercise which will commence this April 5 to 17. Lt. Cmdr. Gregory Fabic, Navy spokesperson, said that the PN ships are the BRP Gregory Del Pilar (PF-15) and BRP Rajah Humabon (PF-11).The BRP Gregorio Del Pilar is a Hamilton-class cutter commissioned by the PN in December 14, 2011.The vessel was acquired by the Philippines in March 13, 2011.
