Venezuelan gov't prevents opposition march in Caracas

Caracas, Mar 10 (EFE).- Venezuelan authorities on Monday prevented a march by members of the medical sector most closely allied with the opposition, the leaders of which had intended to deliver to the government a list of requests to deal with what they describe as a crisis in the health care system. Several dozen members of the national police thwarted the intention to head to the office of the vice president by the hundreds of doctors and supporters who had gathered on downtown Venezuela Square.

Chinese doctor stabbed to death in latest hospital attack

BEIJING (Reuters) - A Chinese man unhappy with the results of an operation on his nose stabbed a doctor to death and wounded two others on Friday, state media reported, in at least the third such attack in a week in which China promised to improve hospital security. The 33-year-old man, surnamed Lian, carried out the attack at a hospital in Wenling city in the wealthy eastern province of Zhejiang, Xinhua news agency reported.

37 Die as Russian hospital burns

Moscow, Sep 13 (EFE).- The predawn fire that devastated a psychiatric hospital in Russia's Novgorod region has left 37 people dead, authorities said. Fifteen bodies have been recovered up to now, and rescue teams continue to search through the rubble of the building, according to an official at the Emergency Management Ministry, cited by Russian news agencies. Firefighters needed nearly eight hours to extinguish the blaze, which broke out around 3:30 a.m., the ministry said. The hospital, which was a wooden building, was completely destroyed.

Roona Begum and her parents left New Delhi and headed home to a remote region of India's northeast after surgeons declared that her health had significantly improved. Roona, whose plight captured international sympathy, has battled through several life-saving surgical procedures which saw doctors drain fluid from her head and dramatically reduce the size of her skull.

H E Kalbani to open Al Masarrah Hospital

H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Said bin Saif al Kalbani, the Minister of Social Development, will officially inaugurate the Al Masarrah Hospital in the wilayat of Amerat on April 14.The Ministry of Health hospital has been built at a cost of more than RO14mn, a press release said.
