Boxing: Britain's Bellew vows to manhandle Adonis

Britain's Tony Bellew landed plenty of verbal jabs Wednesday as he vowed to take the World Boxing Council light heavyweight crown from Canadian southpaw Adonis Stevenson when they meet Saturday. "Adonis Stevenson is getting beat up and man handled. It's as simple as that. I don't care what he brings," Bellew said. "All I want to do is nail him with every single thing I've got. "I'm talking about whatever it takes and whatever I have got to do. I'm going to do it and Saturday night I'm going to be world champion."

Boxing: Cleverly retains WBO light-heavyweight title

Nathan Cleverly made a fifth defence of his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) light-heavyweight title with a unanimous points win over Robin Krasniqi on Saturday. The unbeaten Welshman stayed on course for a lucrative world title unification clash with Bernard Hopkins with a 120-108, 120-108 and 119-109 win at Wembley Arena. Cleverly, 26, was denied a stoppage by the stubborn resistance of German Krasniqi, who refused to go down despite taking some heavy blows and was awarded only one round by the three judges.

Boxing: I'm not skirting Krasniqi issue, says Cleverly

Britain's Nathan Cleverly insists he has not overlooked Saturday's challenger Robin Krasniqi, as he aims to stay on course for a world title unification fight with Bernard Hopkins later this year. The Welshman makes a fifth defence of his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) light-heavyweight title against Krasniqi at Wembley Arena. Hopkins and Cleverly, who have both expressed interest in facing each other in 2013, have mandatory challengers to deal with before any talks can begin about a unification clash.

Boxing: Ageless Hopkins to defend crown against Murat

Bernard Hopkins, the oldest boxer to win a major world title, said Wednesday that he will defend his International Boxing Federation light-heavyweight crown later this year against German Karo Murat. Hopkins broke his own world record by nearly two years last month by winning a unanimous decision over Tavoris Cloud at the age of 48 to take the title. "Yes my next fight is the mandatory Murat," Hopkins confirmed in a posting on his Twitter page, later posting that the fight would happen in July or August.
