Football: Arsenal's Giroud says sorry for affair

Arsenal's French striker Olivier Giroud issued an apology on Sunday after a British tabloid newspaper alleged that he had an extra-marital affair. The Sun on Sunday claimed that Giroud spent a night in a hotel with lingerie model Celia Kay prior to Arsenal's 2-0 home win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League earlier this month. The article was accompanied by a photograph, reportedly taken by Kay, which apparently showed Giroud in his underpants in a hotel room.

Football: Arsenal appeal over Giroud red card

Arsenal on Monday appealed against France striker Olivier Giroud's dismissal during Saturday's 1-0 win against Fulham. Giroud was sent off by referee Andre Marriner in the 90th minute at Craven Cottage after lunging into a challenge on Fulham's Stanislav Manolev. The former Montpellier star faces a three-match ban, which would be a significant blow to Arsenal's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League, so the Gunners have opted to appeal.
