Saskatchewan starts posting personal care home inspection info online

REGINA - Saskatchewan residents looking for a personal care home for themselves or a family member can now get information about the facilities online. The provincial government is posting inspection results for 243 personal care homes after changing legislation to allow the details to be shared with the public. Health Minister Dustin Duncan says the results will help families and give operators incentive to provide the best care possible. Personal care homes are licensed and monitored by Saskatchewan Health, but they are privately owned and operated.

Military families no longer face wait period for Saskatchewan health coverage

REGINA - The families of soldiers relocating to Saskatchewan from another province or territory will no longer have to wait for basic health coverage. The provincial government says it has waived a 90-day waiting period for spouses and dependants of Canadian Armed Forces members. Health Minister Dustin Duncan says the moves means fewer interprovincial billings for Saskatchewan health service providers. It also is in line with other provinces and territories which have already made the change.
