Kraft revenue misses on weak Jell-O, mayo sales

By Phil Wahba (Reuters) - Kraft Foods Group Inc <KRFT.O> reported lower-than-expected quarterly revenue on Wednesday, hurt by lower prices on some beverages, and by soft sales of mayonnaise, salad dressing and Jell-O desserts. Net revenue declined 4.2 percent to $4.39 billion, in large part because a year earlier Kraft had higher shipments to retailers ahead of its spin-off from Mondelez International Inc <MDLZ.O>. About 1 percentage point of that was from lower pricing to attract customers.

Kraft's 3Q profit rises 7.3 pct, but revenue down because of impact from spinoff

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Kraft Foods Group Inc. reported a 7.3 per cent increase in third-quarter net income, bolstered by cost-saving measures. But its revenue fell because of moves related to its split from Mondelez International a year ago. The maker of Miracle Whip, Oscar Mayer and other packaged food items said Wednesday that it earned $500 million, or 83 cents per share, for the three months that ended Sept. 28. That compares with $466 million, or 79 cents per share, a year ago.

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Kraft Foods Group Inc. says it profit rose in the second quarter but its revenue slipped on weak sales of cold cuts and salad dressings. The company, which makes Miracle Whip, Oscar Mayer and other staples found in American pantries, raised its guidance for the year, citing a one-time benefit related to its pension plans. Its shares edged up 39 cents to $57.50.

Mondelez profit meets expectations for 1st quarter, company lifts 2013 profit outlook

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Mondelez reported a first-quarter profit on Tuesday that met Wall Street expectations, as the maker of Oreo cookies raised prices and sold more of its snacks in emerging markets. The company, which also makes Cadbury chocolate and Trident gum, said it still expects revenue growth for the year to be on the low end of its forecast of 5 to 7 per cent, with a decline in coffee prices and ongoing weakness in the gum category weighing on results. But it raised its outlook for operating earnings, citing tax items.
