LHP Jeremy Affeldt will face hitters again Friday. Affeldt will throw about 40 pitches to "increase his load a little bit," manager Bruce Bochy said Wednesday. Bochy added that Affeldt will be re-evaluated after that and possibly activated. Affeldt has been on the disabled list since July 21 with a left groin strain. INF Marco Scutaro will get a couple of days off to deal with back soreness. Scutaro didn't play Wednesday in San Diego and isn't expected to be in the lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks.
