C Evan Gattis tied his career best with three hits on Saturday. The 3-for-4 effort lifted his batting average from .208 to 286. He is 6-for-16 during the homestand and 5-for-12 against the Nationals this season. LHP Alex Wood (2-1) left after throwing 103 pitches in five innings on Saturday. Wood allowed six hits and walked three but struck out seven and gave up only one run. It was his first career win against the Nationals. "I somehow managed to get through five. Don't ask me how," Wood said.

RHP Aaron Harang signed a one-year deal with the Braves on March 24, the same day Atlanta cut RHP Freddy Garcia. Harang, 35, was granted his release by the Cleveland Indians after he was told he would not make the team's Opening Day roster. Harang allowed two runs on eight hits and two walks over nine innings during the spring. Last season, while pitching for the Seattle Mariners and the New York Mets, he went a combined 5-12 with a 5.40 ERA with the two clubs.

RHP Aaron Harang signed a Minor League contract with a non-roster invitation to the Cleveland Indians Major League spring training camp. The 35-year-old is 110-116 with a 4.28 ERA in 325 games, including 319 starts, over a 12-year Major League career with six teams since debuting with Oakland in 2002. The 6-foot-7, San Diego native spent most of the 2013 season with the Seattle Mariners after going to spring training with the Los Angeles Dodgers, going 5-11 with a 5.76 ERA in 22 starts. He was the only Mariners pitcher to toss a shutout in 2013.

RHP Aaron Harang will look to end his season on a positive note when he takes the mound for the Mets on Saturday afternoon in the third game of a four-game series against the Brewers at Citi Field. Harang didn't factor into the decision in his most recent start Monday, when he gave up two runs on five hits and a season-high six walks while striking out one over six innings as the Mets fell to the Reds, 3-2. The six walks were the most by Harang since he walked eight while pitching for the Dodgers against the Athletics on June 19, 2012.

RHP Matt Harvey might pitch in the Arizona Fall League while he rehabs a partially torn UCL in his right elbow, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said. Harvey, on the disabled list since Sept. 11 after going 9-5 with a 2.27 ERA in 26 starts, is hoping to avoid Tommy John surgery which could cause him to miss the entire 2014 season. RHP David Aardsma pitched a scoreless inning Monday night, despite two walks. He now has stranded all 19 inherited runners this season, the most in the major leagues without allowing a runner to score.

Preview: Mets at Reds

Johnny Cueto makes his second start since coming off the disabled list on Monday when the Cincinnati Reds begin a three-game series against the New York Mets. The Reds are tied with Pittsburgh for second place in the National League Central with six games to play - and both clubs are 2 1/2 games behind first-place St. Louis. After facing the Mets, Cincinnati closes the regular season with three games at home against the Pirates.
