Thousands mourn victims of anti-Semitic gunman in Kansas City

By Carey Gillam and and Kevin Murphy OVERLAND PARK, Kansas (Reuters) - Thousands gathered at a Methodist church in Kansas on Friday to mourn a teenager and his grandfather who were shot dead outside a Jewish community center last weekend in what authorities say was an anti-Semitic hate crime.

3 Dead in shootings at Jewish centers in Kansas

Washington, Apr 13 (EFE).- Three people died Sunday when a gunman opened fire at two different Jewish centers on the outskirts of Kansas City, Kansas, after which the suspect was arrested, local police reported. The first shooting occurred at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City and the second at Village Shalom, a retirement community near the center, according to police cited by local television channels KCTV and KSHB.

Police link 12 vehicle shootings in Kansas City area

By Kevin Murphy KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Reuters) - Police believe a dozen shooting incidents, in which three people have been injured over the past month mostly on highways and roads in Kansas City and surrounding areas, are connected, authorities said on Friday. Police have made no arrests in the investigation into 20 shootings since March 8 in Kansas City and nearby areas, but for the first time on Friday said they had found positive connections to confirm their suspicions in 12 cases.

Man charged in fan beating death outside NFL game in Missouri

By Kevin Murphy KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Reuters) - A Missouri man was charged with involuntary manslaughter on Friday in the beating death of a football fan in the stadium parking lot outside a Kansas City Chiefs game. Joshua Bradley, 25, is accused of striking Kyle Van Winkle, 30, multiple times after an argument on December 1, 2013 outside the National Football League game at Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri, the Jackson County prosecutor said in court records. He was released on $75,000 bond, according to court records.

New schools to open in Joplin, Missouri, after tornado

Police probe death of man found outside Kansas City NFL stadium

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Reuters) - Police in Kansas City, Missouri, released three people on Monday who were being held in an investigation into the death of a man after a struggle outside the home stadium of the Kansas City Chiefs during a National Football League game on Sunday. Police were called to a disturbance in a parking lot at Arrowhead Stadium during a game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos and learned that a man had been taken to a hospital in critical condition, Kansas City Police Sergeant Tye Grant said in a statement.

Suspect in deaths of Kansas mother and children seen at store

(Reuters) - A suspect in the deaths of a woman and her three children in southeastern Kansas was spotted early Tuesday afternoon at a store in a nearby town, law enforcement authorities said. David Cornell Bennett Jr is being sought in the deaths of Cami Umbarger, 29, and her three young children in Parsons, Kansas, which is about 150 miles south of Kansas City, the Kansas attorney general's office said in a statement. Bennett has not been charged.
