Ruling party to file expulsion motion against 2 opposition lawmakers

SEOUL, Dec. 10 (Yonhap) -- The ruling Saenuri Party will file a motion Tuesday calling for the expulsion of two opposition lawmakers accused of making slanderous remarks against President Park Geun-hye, the party's floor leader said. The remarks by Reps. Yang Seung-jo and Jang Ha-na of the main opposition Democratic Party (DP) were made earlier this week amid a protracted standoff over allegations of state tampering in last year's presidential race.

Park taps longtime right-hand man as new senior press secretary

SEOUL, June 3 (Yonhap) -- President Park Geun-hye named her longtime right-hand man and senior political secretary Lee Jung-hyun on Monday to be her new senior press secretary, a post that became vacant over a sexual abuse scandal involving her now-fired spokesman, her office said. Lee will succeed Lee Nam-ki, who resigned last month, to take responsibility as the immediate superior of the disgraced spokesman, Yoon Chang-jung. Yoon was accused of making unwanted sexual advances toward a young intern during Park's trip to the United States.
