LAPD: Former NFL star Sharper arrested on suspicion of rape; suspended by NFL Network

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Former NFL star defensive back Darren Sharper has been arrested on suspicion of rape, the Los Angeles Police Department said. Sharper was arrested and booked Friday and released on $200,000 bail just before midnight, according to the LAPD. He faces a Feb. 14 court appearance. LAPD said it is investigating Sharper in connection with two sexual assaults that occurred in October and earlier this month in the West Los Angeles area.

NFL Sunday afternoon games available on phones to local fans through Verizon starting in 2014

NEW YORK, N.Y. - NFL Sunday afternoon games will be available to local fans on mobile phones through Verizon starting with the 2014 season. The league said Tuesday it had extended its deal with Verizon. For the coming season, the NFL Mobile app will continue to allow subscribers to watch Thursday, Sunday and Monday night games, NFL Network and NFL RedZone. The following season, the service will expand to include Sunday afternoon games on CBS and Fox within teams' home markets, along with all playoff games.
