MLB Team Report - New York Mets - INSIDE PITCH PHOENIX -- Outfielder Chris Young is expected to return from the disabled list Friday, but that might not be soon enough to help a suddenly hobbled New York Mets outfield.

1B Lucas Duda tied a career high with four hits, all singles, while driving in two runs and scoring one. "Just lucky, I guess," said Duda, who finished the game in left field after injuries claimed RF Curtis Granderson and CF Juan Lagares. Duda has four four-hit games, the last coming June 17, 2013, at Atlanta. He is 9-for-22 on the Mets' road trip.

C Anthony Recker is a strong bet to remain the team's backup catcher in 2014, manager Terry Collins said. Alderson said at season's end that he may look to invest in a veteran backup to mentor starting catcher Travis d'Arnaud, but the Mets were satisfied with Recker's work behind the plate and anticipate having him back.

RHP Matt Harvey, who was placed on the DL on Aug. 27 with a partial tear of a ligament in his elbow, will be examined by Dr. James Andrews to determine if elbow reconstruction surgery is necessary.

Mets 5, Phillies 0: Matt Harvey struck out 10 and outdueled fellow All-Star Cliff Lee while Juan Lagares belted a three-run home run as host New York took two of three from Philadelphia. Harvey (8-2) hit Chase Utley with a pitch and allowed three hits but was otherwise flawless over seven innings. David Wright and Marlon Byrd added solo shots in the first inning for the Mets, who won their first series at home since sweeping a two-game set against the New York Yankees from May 29-30.
