Lou Reed, who has died aged 71, was a rebellious, sometimes irritating, rock musician who refused to let the system swallow him up and left behind several albums that have become milestones.
From blistering 1960s sounds -- years before the punk and grunge scenes -- to '70s tunes with explicit sexual lyrics, to ballads about life's struggles, Reed turned out some 30 albums and close to a dozen landmark songs.
